TBR: March 17: Exodus 28; John 7
In John 7, we continue seeing Jesus and His work being a source of contention. The Jews (leadership) wanted to kill him (v. 1) and there was great division over who He actually was (vv. 40-44). Yet Jesus, during the Feast of Booths on the last day implored those who were “thirsty” to come from Him and drink. This is significant for on the last day there was a ritual involving water. Jesus is saying He is the fulfillment of the Feast of Booths. The Feasts, like the event of the mana, are mere shadows of Christ and His work. Christ would give not just life, but everlasting life. He would quench the thirsty, forever. Christian, we don’t need to look to anyone or anything for fulfillment. We need to look only to our Savior - the Living Water who gives us His Spirit (vv. 37-39). The Lord be with you today!
