Priest and Sacrifice: TBR: April 5: Lev 8; Psalm 9
In Leviticus 8 we read of the ordination of the priests before God. They were to follow very specific commands of the Lord regarding this ordination. They were to have special garments, anointing oil, unleavened bread and sacrifices v. 2. They were to offer a sin offering v. 14, burnt offering v. 18, and a peace offering v. 22. This showed that the priests themselves, though dedicated to the service of God, were also in need of sacrifice to come before God. It would not be till Jesus Christ would come that the Priest would become the sacrifice and give us unfettered access to God, a permanent and perfect priest forever after the order of Melchizedek (Heb 4:14-16; 7:26-28). Surely we can see in Psalm 9:1 how we can recount the Lord’s “wonderful deeds,” namely Jesus becoming our Great High Priest. The Lord be with you today.
