In 1 Corinthians 5, Paul shows how the church was being corrupted by the world. The sinful lifestyles of secular Corinthians crept into the church. What should have been abhorrent behavior to the church was actually being accepted and even celebrated (v. 1-2). Is that happening in the American church today? If so, how can we live purely in a sinful culture?
In preaching through 1 Corinthians, I alluded to these questions and stated I posted the following blog posts. I encourage you to read the following blogs by Kevin DeYoung regarding Christians watching "Game of Thrones" and then John Piper's post on 12 questions to ask when watching Game of Thrones... and any other entertainment. The fact that this post even needed to be written and so many people tried to argue against DeYoung's very clear biblical postion shows indeed we are living in Modern Corinth. May God grant us grace to live purely in a morally depraved society.
